Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how KnobVault: Setting Presets (“KnobVault,” “the App”) handles information when you use the Android application with the package name com.knobvault.settingpresets.
KnobVault is provided by Sarana Creative Studio (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We respect your privacy and designed the App to operate without an account or an online service.
2. Information Stored by the App
KnobVault allows you to create and store information such as:
- Device names, categories, descriptions, and visual preferences;
- Control definitions, including knobs, sliders, switches, modes, numbers, and text fields;
- Preset names and control values;
- Notes and tags entered by you;
- Favorite selections;
- App preferences, such as theme, sorting, number format, and confirmation settings; and
- Imported backup information selected by you.
This information is stored locally on your Android device. It is used only to provide the App’s features, such as displaying, searching, editing, organizing, comparing, importing, and exporting your settings.
KnobVault does not require you to enter personal information. If you choose to include personal or sensitive information in device names, notes, tags, or other text fields, that information remains under your control and is stored locally on your device.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
KnobVault does not automatically transmit user information from the App to us or to a server. The current version of the App does not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or account credentials;
- Precise or approximate location;
- Contacts, messages, call information, photos, videos, or audio;
- Financial, payment, health, or government identification information;
- Advertising identifiers or persistent device identifiers;
- Browsing history or a list of installed applications;
- Analytics or advertising data; or
- Crash reports sent through a third-party crash-reporting service.
KnobVault does not sell, rent, or use your information for advertising, profiling, or behavioral tracking.
4. Android Permissions
The current version of KnobVault does not request Internet access or sensitive Android permissions such as location, camera, microphone, contacts, phone, or SMS access.
File import and export are handled through Android’s system document picker. The App can access only the file or destination that you explicitly select.
5. Local Storage and Offline Operation
Device profiles, controls, presets, tags, notes, and preferences are stored within the App’s local storage on your device. KnobVault does not provide cloud synchronization and does not automatically upload this information.
Android application sandboxing helps prevent other applications from directly accessing KnobVault’s private application data under normal device conditions. However, no storage method can guarantee absolute security, particularly on rooted, compromised, or otherwise modified devices.
6. Backup, Import, Export, and Sharing
Backup export
When you choose to export a backup, KnobVault creates a JSON file containing your devices, controls, presets, values, tags, and notes. You choose where that file is saved using Android’s document picker.
Exported backup files are not encrypted by KnobVault. You are responsible for protecting exported files and choosing a secure storage location.
If you choose a cloud storage provider as the export destination, the selected provider may receive and store the backup according to its own privacy policy. KnobVault does not automatically select or operate that provider.
Backup import
When you import a backup, KnobVault reads only the file you select and uses it to restore information into the App’s local database. The selected file is not uploaded to us.
Preset sharing
When you select the Share feature, KnobVault sends a text summary to Android’s system share sheet. Nothing is shared until you choose a receiving application or service. Information sent through that application is handled according to the receiving party’s privacy practices.
7. Third-Party Services and External Applications
KnobVault does not integrate advertising networks, behavioral analytics services, or third-party tracking SDKs.
The App may allow you to open an external webpage, an email application, a file provider, or Android’s share sheet. These external applications and services operate independently and may process information under their own privacy policies. We do not control their data-handling practices.
Google Play may process information related to downloading, installing, updating, reviewing, or purchasing applications according to the Google Privacy Policy. This processing is performed by Google and is separate from data handling within KnobVault.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Information stored by KnobVault remains on your device until you:
- Delete an individual preset or device;
- Use the Delete Sample Data feature;
- Use the Delete All Data feature;
- Clear KnobVault’s application storage through Android settings; or
- Uninstall the App.
The Delete All Data feature removes locally stored devices, controls, presets, values, tags, and notes. Certain basic App preferences may remain until you clear the App’s storage or uninstall it.
Exported backup files are stored outside KnobVault’s private application storage. Deleting App data or uninstalling KnobVault will not automatically delete exported backup files. You must delete those files from their chosen storage location yourself.
Because KnobVault does not upload or store your App content on our servers, we cannot remotely access, recover, export, or delete information stored only on your device.
9. Data Security
KnobVault minimizes privacy risk by keeping your information on your device and avoiding automatic network transmission. The App relies on Android’s application sandbox and platform storage protections.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and any exported backup files. We recommend using a device screen lock and storing backup files only in locations you trust.
10. Children’s Privacy
KnobVault is a general-purpose utility and is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13. The App does not require an account and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App’s features or data-handling practices change, or when required by law or platform policy. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after an updated policy becomes effective means that the updated policy will apply to your future use of the App.
